An absolute eye-catcher for the living room: a 125 gallon aquarium! Our DIY professional Kenny shows you how easy it is to recreate. From the "Do-it-Yourself" category.

BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS:

Select table tops.

Important! The right wood must be chosen, e.g. Beech-oak or, as in this case, the wood from the rubber tree called Hevea wood.

Cut the base plate and the table top to size with the hand-held circular saw. Put the guide rail on and off you go.

Mill the cut edges with the router so that a curve is created. Sand the edges smooth with a flat sanding (180 grit).

The furniture castors are now mounted on the underside of the base plate.

Important! Pay attention to the load capacity of the rollers. It is best to seek advice from a hardware store.

For the posts, cut the palisade wood to the desired length (the height of the aquarium plus 5 mm).

4 holes are made on the underside of the table top and then the mounting sleeves are driven in.

In the pillars, holes for the screw connectors are made on the upper side exactly in the middle of the wood. Make the holes a little smaller than the screw as it needs to be tight.

Now the pillars are screwed under the table top until they are firmly seated.

The pillars are now screwed to the base plate from below. This works best if you put everything on one side.

When the base and cover are screwed together, mark the cutout for the glass cover on the table top. To do this, use the pane as a template and then peel off 5 mm, otherwise the pane would fall through the cutout.

After marking, a hole is drilled with a drill so that the saw blade of the jigsaw fits through. Then the board is sawn out.

Now the router is used. We mill a groove in the thickness of the pane so that the pane is sunk into the table top.

Preparation of the wood stain for antique wood: Put 2 bottles of vinegar essence in a bucket, tear apart the fine steel wool and put in. Put the lid on and let it soak. It is best to start 2 days in advance.

Now rub all of the wood with the stain. You can use an old t-shirt for this.

Place the aquarium under the table so that it fits exactly.

Assemble the LEDs and glue them under the table top (inside of the basin, but right at the edge of the glass). The LEDs are self-adhesive and approved for outdoor use.

When the stain is dry, apply the acrylic clear coat and smooth it out. Dries after approx. 30 minutes.

Just put the gravel in, put the water on it and the water purifier, plants and fish. Some decoration and your eye-catcher is ready.
